Races ran much of the morning starting at 9am and going on until all doxies had at least 2 attempts at a top time. It was fun to see the doxies race. some shot out straight as an arrow while others took this time to ham it up for the crowd.
When not racing, or if you were a spectator just needing a break from the cuteness on the race field, you could check out some local rescue groups, shops and radio stations. With none other than the Wienerschnitizal truck selling hot dogs. There was also a large grass area where many of the doxies just got together and socialized.
Participants received fun dachshund t-shirts and tickets to see the top 16 run at Del Mar with the horses.
Three races will take place on the track in front of the Winners Circle. Two semifinal races will occur after horse races 3 & 5 with the finals occurring after horse race 7.
The Del Mar winner advances to the National final which determines the fastest wiener in the nation.
Don't miss these adorable, free-spirited, low-to-the-ground athletes on their quest for stardom!
